Commodore’s Report (Sue Oats)

Secretary’s Report (Julie Cunningham)

  • Overview of 2020 Member Survey
    • Respondents: 35 responses, primarily from current members
    • Demographics: Most have been members a significant time, but 33% are new within the last two years.The majority of members live within 30 minutes, but about 20% drive over 45 minutes. Over 60% of the club are between 50-69 years of age.
    • Activity Preferences: Socializing is by far the highest priority indicated by respondents. The favorite event of 2019 was the Will Rogers Fly-In. Responses indicate an interest in more raft-ups. There was a slight preference for family oriented vs. adult oriented activities. 
    • Communication Preferences: Most members learned about club events via email and Facebook in 2019, and indicate that they would like to continue both of those but also access information on the website. 
    • Comments: Overall positive with a desire to see growth and inclusion. Some concerns voiced about dock safety and group preferences. Several requests for more information on the website- directory, etc.
  • New website highlights and updates
    • New site is housed at wordpress.com for ease of maintenance (cost is less than $50/annually).
    • Domain names have been registered and re-registered to us (spindriftsc.com and spindriftsc.org) for $18/year per URL.
    • Initial site review and comments
      • Update “Cruising” to “Socializing”.
      • Training and Racing areas to include general info and then specific posts that can be updated via email or WordPress.
      • Collect “Club History” information. (Julie will gather several of the older photos from the Facebook page to include)
      • Add Board of Directors area with by-laws, rules, minutes, and board members.
      • “Join the Club” page will house PDF of membership form and information on club use of pavillion and dock spaces. 
      • Member Dashboard “App”
        • Can be made into an “app” – directions at top of page
        • Directory (password protected with only email and phone)

Training Report (Larry Miers)

  • Training to be paired with socials as in previous years – 30 to 60 minutes prior
  • Larry requested we poll members for training topics

Rear Commodore’s Report (Vacant- All Board Participation)

  • General: Socials will be held on 4th Saturdays at 6:00pm as in prior years. Meal entree cost will be covered by club with members adding side dishes. We will seek volunteers to prepare and serve the entree. Initial plan for 30-45 attendees, but strong need for membership to RSVP in order to decrease food waste and unnecessary expenditure of club funds. Initial cost approved at $100 per social with amount to be updated as attendance increases. Events will be publicized on website with RSVP details and weekly email digest.
